Q: What are the benefits of becoming a PMI member?

A: As a PMI member you are kept up to date on local and global Project Management information in various industries. With over 35 online communities there will never be a question unanswered. You can download all PMI foundational standards, practice standards and frameworks for free including the Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)

Q: Why pay extra and become a Tanzania Chapter member?

A: The Tanzania Chapter is an exciting community to be part of. The chapter runs a number of events featuring local and international speakers. If you’re looking for new opportunities, wanting to connect with like minded people and expand your professional network, the Tanzania Chapter offers this and much more. PMP Exam preparation sessions are regularly run helping Project Managers get certified.

Q: Can my PMI Certification be verified?

A: A person’s PMI certification status can usually be verified through the online Certification Registry at https://certification.pmi.org/Registry.aspx

Since certification holders may choose not to be listed in the online Certification Registry, they may hold a PMI certification even if their names do not appear within the listing. Therefore, if you are unable to locate an individual’s name and credential(s) in the registry, you may send a signed release to +1 484 631 1332 and PMI will provide you with a confirmation of their status.

Q: Can I become a member of two different states/chapters at the same time?

A: You certainly can, however each chapter you decide to join will incur a joining fee (fees listed on PMI global website)

Q: How do I learn more about the various PMI Certifications available?

A: PMI offers a comprehensive certification program for project practitioners of all education and skill levels. For a list of all available certifications and choosing the right one for you, refer to : http://www.pmi.org/Certification.aspx

Q: Do I have to join as a PMI Global member in order to be come a Tanzania Chapter Member?

A: The Tanzania Chapter is a component of the PMI Global organisation. To become a member of the Tanzania Chapter, you must first be a PMI member. To join, simply follow http://www.pmi.org/Membership/Membership-Benefits-of-Membership.aspx

Q: I’m interested in preparing to sit for my PMP exam. Are there any preparation courses to help pass my exam?

A: At the moment the Chapter does not run the preparation courses for PMP, but we will direct you to the registered REPs in Tanzania or around the region who can provide that service for you.

Q: I have a Masters Degree in Project Management. Am I automatically PMP certified as a holder of a Masters Degree in PM or do I need to go through the process to be certified?

A: Unfortunately there is no automatic route to becoming PMP certified. It is necessary to sit the exam and to meet the associated pre-conditions.

Your masters degree may cover you for a number of contact hours. However you will also need working experience to qualify
